Bloody Mary Cucumber Salad
Growing up my Papaw had a huge garden at their home in the country. On every visit to Mamaw’s house during the summer she’d have a fresh picked cucumber salad.
Hers was a simple recipe-cucumbers, onions, sugar, white vinegar, salt and pepper. This weekend we spiced up this traditional southern summertime staple for the Big Apple BBQ Block Party in New York City.
We got back to Yazoo City yesterday after a fantastic weekend. Our team managed to beautifully smoke, grill and glaze 18,000 chicken wings. Ubons is a family team. My daughter says we aren’t related by blood, we are related by love and that’s the truth!
Tonight after a weekend of meat and heat we decided to honor our weekend vegetarian protesters’ advice and stick to vegetables for supper-but just for today! Here’s the recipe for our Ubons Bloody Mary Cucumber Salad from the weekend.

- 2 cucumbers
- 2 tomatoes
- 1 vidalia onion
- 1 cup cabbage shredded (optional)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2/3 cup Ubons Bloody Mary Mix (Hot and Spicy or BBQ)
- 2/3 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 bunch fresh herbs as avaialble
- salt & pepper
